Curriculum and Instruction Department

In Curriculum and Instruction Program there is only master’s degree program with thesis. Master’s Degree Program started its educational activities in the fall semester of 2001-2002 academic year, and began to admit students at the same semester. The non-thesis master's program was opened in the 2014-2015 spring semester, but no students were admitted yet. The Ph.D. program started its academic activities in the spring semester of 2014-2015 and started accepting students in the same academic semester.
Objectives of the Program:
In accordance with the general objectives of Curriculum and Instruction Department Master’s Degree Program, it is aimed to follow new and current studies in these fields, contribute to the field and develop and enrich scientific thinking skills and perspectives required for all departments. 
Developing education world and continuously prospering academic environments necessitate training cumulative and expert academicians. It is obvious that the need for qualified and trained education community changes the necessities in nationwide and global circumstances. The same need reveals the requirement that this community, consisting of teachers and academicians, should be made qualified in direct proportion to how much we have developed curriculums and everything about teaching. Therefore, it is thought that experts, who will be trained under the roof of Curriculum and Instruction Department, will highly help for the development and evaluation of the curriculums that will be renewed by more contemporary approaches in the future.
In accordance with the curriculums renewed in recent years and emergent approaches, various alterations and revisions have been made in master’s degree programs. By taking contemporary approaches into account, the contribution of research subjects in the courses, methods and techniques and prepared thesis to the field has a great importance. There has been a need for curriculum development experts in the matter of providing cooperation between MEB and YOK, configuring curriculums, organizing educational activities and training instructors in tertiary education.
Criteria Applied During Admission of Students to Graduate Programs:
Admission and graduation requirements for graduate programs of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction are carried out in accordance with the conditions specified in the Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Graduate Education Regulations.
